Three Interior Designers Create Their Dream Basement Party Room with AD
Introduction
At Duke Renders, our passion lies in delving into the realm of 3d visualization and interior design, exploring creative pursuits that inspire and enthrall. Recently, we had the honor of embarking on a 3D render design journey, one that was expertly curated by Architectural Digest. This is not our first time, as our job has been featured before, like in our article Three interior designers transform dorm room.
In this captivating video feature, AD showed interior designers Courtney McLeod, Sasha Bikoff, and Becky Carter, and a photo of the same basement leisure space. They were then tasked with creating a new design for it in their own unique ways, with no limits. This project appears enjoyable, and we love when they just do what they want and show us how far their skills can go.
Designers Rise to the Challenge
As an interior designer or architect, what would you do with a single photograph like in this challenge? The cards were there, and each designer had the opportunity to create a fresh design for it in their own distinct manner, with no limitations. Three artists, one canvas, each bringing something distinct to the area. Let's see which designer comes closest to creating your perfect basement hangout. We look forward to your feedback on these three. Which one is your favorite?
Courtney McLeod
Courtney McLeod is a renowned figure in interior design, with accolades like ELLE DECOR A-List, 1stDibs Top 5 and D&D Rising Star. Leading Right Meets Left Interior Design, her firm offers luxury services worldwide, believing in design's power to bring joy. Based in Manhattan's Flatiron District, Courtney transitioned from a successful finance career to pursue her passion for design. She's grateful for the opportunity to live out her passion every day.
In this challenge, Courtney encountered a space with insufficient lighting and unattractive soffits, resembling a bland, generic area. To elevate the space, she decided to adorn the ceiling with a spectacular gold leaf design and incorporate a handpainted silk wallpaper. Her goal was to create visual interest and disguise the unsightly soffits on either side of the room. Courtney also selected a sofa to serve as a backdrop for vibrant pillows, enhancing the rich burgundy tones of the wallpaper.
Sasha Bikoff
Sasha Bikoff is a celebrated interior decorator known for her bold and imaginative designs. Drawing inspiration from diverse sources and combining different styles seamlessly, Sasha's work reflects her profound understanding of design history. With a background in Fine Art and Art History, she has left her mark on residential and commercial spaces worldwide, collaborating with renowned brands and showcasing her work at prestigious events.
Sasha's space for this challenge is filled with imaginative touches, like mirrored walls and ceilings that create a sense of expansiveness. We believe the combination of colored lights and plants adds vibrancy and coziness to the luxurious setting.
Becky Carter
She is the founder of Studio Becky Carter is a New York-based interior design firm led by founder Becky Carter. With a focus on bespoke environments, the studio offers creative services tailored to each project. Leveraging Becky Carter's ten years of experience as a furniture designer, the studio brings a craft-based perspective to design, resulting in inspired spaces for commercial, hospitality, and residential projects.
We were impressed by Becky's karaoke lounge in this challenge. Its unique design and dramatic flair stood out, creating a memorable space with a sophisticated hotel lounge feel. Becky's clever use of space makes it feel larger than it is. It's perfect for musician friends who enjoy a classy 1920s vibe, and the possibility of a ceiling that lights up like a Studio 54 dance floor adds to its allure.
Our thoughts on the challenge
Each proposal has its own unique charm. We could envision ourselves enjoying karaoke in any of these rooms. In one, we'd relax on the sunken couch; in another, we'd dance on the raised platforms; and in yet another, we'd play the piano and sip a drink on that beautiful beige tufted couch.
Conclusion
In summary, the Architectural Digest challenge not only showcases designers' unique styles but also illustrates the transformative power of design. These talented individuals have taken a standard dorm room and infused it with their personal touch while meeting practical requirements. What are your thoughts?
