“This office space was designed for the Head of a prestigious UK private school, located in North London, in a 120 acres of beautiful countryside.
The main challenge for this project was to create a clean and fresh modern space, whilst reflecting the colour of their school - hot pink (!), deep purple, grey, green and turquoise, and preserving the heritage and historic features of the 128 years old building. To achieve this, I opted for a natural light grey for the walls, and introduced pops of colour by adding hot pink and purple cushions, throws and window seat cushions. I also painted the fireplace in a muted blue (rather than turquoise), to create a focal point.
I also had to work on the layout of the room which was sub-optimal with a conference table placed in front of the fireplace, and the entertainment area placed far away from the French doors leading to the terrace where refreshments are served in the summer. I relocated the seating area in front of the fireplace and console table for the entertainment in the bay window by the French doors, and created zoning by adding a couple of large rugs under the desk area and seating space. I also introduced several picture lights on the wall allowing my client to display the artwork produced by their pupils.
One of my favourite thing about this design is the way the hot pink and deep purple blend so nicely into the overall design without taking away the character and key features of the room.”
