City To Suburb Interiors

Sometimes you are looking for some extra inspiration to get that specific look that you want for your projects and this is the intention of this weekly series.

See the featured designers with their latest projects and leave us your comments! We’d love to know your opinion.

This design was done for a local client in Livingston, NJ who was finally ready to treat herself and her husband to an updated primary bedroom after too many years of living with no rug, dated furniture, and temporary paper window shades! This busy mom wanted it to be a peaceful, relaxing retreat. The design started with her love of burl wood and the search for the perfect window shade fabric that would create interest without being too "busy." We selected the burl wood nightstands and a printed linen, which mimics the organic patterns of the wood. We highlighted these features by selecting a bed and chaise with clean lines, along with a simple, textured area rug. We contrasted the modern chaise with a branch-like side table. Finally, we worked with Duke Renders to help us decide between a dark blue grey paint color on the walls or ceiling, and it was clear that the accent on the ceiling makes the room visually larger and emphasizes the beautiful chandelier. We love that the room feels both bright and moody at the same time, and the mix of textures and organic patterns softens the contemporary space.
