" I love everything, but most importantly the use of different materials (wood, stone, metal) and the art gallery above the breakfast table. This kitchen is for a busy family that loves a bit of edge. They didn't want a kitchen that looked like it was specified off of a showroom floor. The parents entertain often, and the children always have friends over. It's their favorite room in the house!

The brass plated chess stools were on my vision board for a really long time so I've been meaning to use them in a kitchen design for years. The other materials and textures were inspired by a trip to Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa (pre covid)- the masks from local vendors and the earth tones from my safari tours. The clients are avid travelers so they loved the concept!

Earthy tones can be bold too! Your kitchen can be functional while simultaneously making a statement! I'd also like to point out the importance of having multifunctional spaces in the home. I'm sure we all can agree on this having spent most of this past year indoors. Not only is this kitchen a great hangout area, the breakfast nook features a great zoom background in an impromptu office setup!"
