"My client is a hospitality brand @The Island Spot. I have designed all 3 of the Jamaican restaurants in Dallas and owner, @therichardthomas is expanding the brand into private villas in Jamaica, his homeland. Through the design, I wanted to bring the same authentic feel and flavor that customers experience in the restaurants to the villas in Jamaica. Let's be clear, the star here is the ocean view! I wanted furniture and design that complimented the teal ocean and blue sky and green palm trees. I chose neutral-colored furniture that is modern and stream-lined. Because the furniture will get heavy use by renters and be in the sun and sea-salt wind every day, it also has to be durable. I brought in the natural textures you would see in a traditional home in Jamaica like wood and weaving but modernized it a bit without losing the essence. My favorite thing about the design are the large swinging chairs to enjoy the ocean front view. They are beautifully designed but also functional."
