As far as the room goes, it is for the most wonderful residential client who will be using the unique space as a guest room/AirBnB. It was formerly a detached room on the property for the sole purpose of housing a hot tub. They removed the hot tub and turned the space into a complete guest getaway suite that includes a downstairs kitchen and bath.

We wanted the space to encompass the feel of a luxury hotel getaway. We are calling it the "Valley Outpost" as it overlooks Oregon's picturesque Willamette Valley. The view is the star here, so we were careful that none of the furniture we incorporated obstructed the view. Also of note is the hand-crafted wood paneling that the original owner put in himself. The challenge was to make sure the design served the view and highlighted the paneling, while creating a classic yet current hotel-like environment. While I often gravitate towards bold color, it felt important to keep the pallet neutral in this space and instead focus on texture. A bubble pendant adds a soft contrast to the wood, while the trunk bedside tables hint at whimsy and adventure. Layered rugs not only ground the space, they create a casual and collected look.
