“I love that this mom-cave has a modern bohemian flair, and as an E-design project I think it was executed perfectly by the client.
The room is pretty open so I didn't want to use any square or directional furniture, I used something that was curvy and could face many different directions--the sofa was the thing we had a hard time narrowing down, but it was central to the room. The other elements came easy, but I made a point to choose soft and textured items, round objects, for the client's sensory enjoyment and for the growing baby. I didn't want anything in the room to be dangerous once her child started learning how to walk. We wanted a bohemian flair so it was important to incorporate vintage items, which we have in the bookcase, and I love how everything turned out!
The moody green wall color by Care paint is one I've been wanting to use for so long and it's the perfect backdrop for the brighter elements in the room.
Each style doesn't have to be a cookie cutter. You can make each style your own, in a way. I think this is very "millennial boho chic" where we aren't doing the typical things or layering what's found in most bohemian spaces, but we incorporated our clients' fresh take on life. I love that a designer can interpret any style through their own perspective, and I think it's very important for clients to understand that though their space may look different from Pinterest inspiration, they should trust us.
I think this space is just perfect for a young, new mom, who needed space for herself to decompress and/or zone out with her young daughter with no digital distractions, during a stressful COVID-19 and beyond.
