“This design is for a family of four who envisions many fun events where both kids and adults are running out to the pool and entertaining inside. This client is a modern family where they don't want anything too fussy, cold or sterile. When they described themselves as "a bit funky" I immediately thought of the large macrame wall hanging, jute light fixtures and the odd shaped coffee table.
I love the grand size of this room which affords full flex space for this family of four. But even with this grand scale, the warm wood and the incredible views of nature outside, make the room feel like it's a walk through a forest. While a bit hard to see, the bench that spans the entire far wall is imagined to be useful in so many ways -- we imagine tables on casters that can be moved into this area from outside, making one very big long table for BIG meals!
I especially loved designing this area because I can see so many ways this room can grow with their family. From small kids to teenagers, this room will have years of fun in it.”
